Four T's of Buying an Exercise Mat
Type - Material & Texture
Pilates and general exercise mats are often constructed of either closed-cell foam or Thermal Plastic Elastomer (TPE) to offer supreme protection against hard surfaces.
Yoga mats require a greater 'stickiness' to help with poses. Many yoga mats are made from PVC, natural rubber, and jute.
Thickness - Thick or Thin
Look for a thick mat when purchasing a Pilates or general exercise mat to help support and cushion your workout. This will help protect the wrists, knees, elbows and spine. (Range between 0.2 inch/5mm – 0.6 inch/15mm) .
Yoga mats tend to be thin so you can feel a strong connection to the ground during poses, although thicker mats are available. (Range between 0.06 inch/1.4mm - 0.25 inch/6 mm).
Traction - Smooth vs. Grip
Mats with smooth surfaces offer the ability to easily transition between poses and help with sliding movements — great for Pilates.
Mats with a ribbed or textured surface can help prevent slipping and provide good grip to accommodate rapid sets and reps while stopping the mat from moving against the floor — ideal for yoga and general exercise.
Travel - Portability
Thinner mats made with lightweight materials like TPE are easily stored in a mat bag or can be carried over the shoulder using a mat strap.
Mats with a permanent home tend to be extra-thick and are often made of closed-cell foam or rubber.

Good Pilates mat. It’s comfortable and a good thickness. I’ve been using it for about 3 months and I’ve had no issues, it’s very durable. It did not have a chemical smell when it was new which is a plus bc I’ve had yoga mats in the past that I had to air out due to chemical smells but this mat was good to go as soon as it arrived. It is a good length; I’m 5’9” and I still have room on both sides (the one reviewer said it’s only 69” but that’s not true bc I’m 69” tall and the mat is longer than me).

Ya había comprado una esterilla de esta marca y me ha gustado mucho, pero ésta en particular es muy muy gruesa (1cm) y firme pero no se siente dura, es muy cómoda y muy suave al tacto. Para mí es ideal porque sólo la utilizo en casa, pero si buscas algo para poder transportar fácilmente, no es la mejor opción.

Es muy cómodo para ejercitar. Es bastante grueso, por lo que protege mis rodillas en los ejercicios en los que hay que recargarlas.

Me gusto el grosor del tapete ya que da buen soporte pero no tiene buen agarre en pisos laminados y se estira de más

Perfect mat for Pilates! I found thinner (yoga type) mats very uncomfortable on my knees and spine. No more. I can roll like a ball and carry out all moves in 4 point kneeling without discomfort or additional padding. Very well made. Of course, like all mats, you do have to keep toenails trimmed to avoid tearing. The Velcro straps make storage & transporting to class super easy. Because of the thickness, it will curl up at the ends, especially if you’ve had it rolled up tightly for awhile, but the best solution to that is to work out more! Highly recommend.

I was hesitant to purchase this item as its significantly more expensive than other mats on Amazon, but it's truly a quality product and extremely happy with it. It's non-slip to a degree that inspires jealousy. The only thing is it's not that easy to carry around but you can easily use a piece of fabric to make a strap to put underneath the Velcro - which makes way more sense than paying £45 for a gross canvas bag. Colour is v nice as well.
