Great rivets work great for making chairs heavy duty work great

These are a 1/8” dia dome head rivet with a 3mm = 1/8” grip range, the body and the mandrel are both non-magnetic stainless steel. I was concerned the stainless steel mandrel might be difficult to set using a basic hand riveter. With two pieces of .06” aluminum, I drilled a 1/8” hole (no extra for clearance) and using the oldest and most basic hand riveter, it was no problem setting the rivet and snapping the mandrel. As you can see, the mandrel snapped well below the rivet head and the dome head looks great. Viewed from the backside you can see the body distorted into an ellipse, retaining the broken off head of the mandrel. That is a nice feature, some pop rivets do not form an ellipse and then the head of the mandrel can fall out at some future time creating a nuisance or a hazard. 5 stars for nicely performing pop rivet.
