The extension cord itself appears OK, but the rest of the design needs work. The most annoying part is the automatic reel system (the whole reason we bought it).To lock after unwinding you pull down and to the left and to retract you pull down and to the right. All to say, it means you end up walking over to the spool every time to activate each mode. We've used far better retraction mechanisms that work from any angle. The mounting screws stripped immediately during install despite using a high quality impact wrench.Lastly, the 3ft cord that connects to an outlet is way too short and exits the spool from the side rather than rear. As the spool pivots back & forth during regular use, it applies tension to the short cord and bends your prongs. The workaround would be a 6ft, 12 gauge jumper cord.Overall, not impressed and we only lots of the TerraBloom extension cords.

It handles the higher demands of shop equipment like battery chargers and A/C service equipment.

I have been looking for an electric cord reel for sometime now, that is 12 gauge wire. All others that I can find are 14 gauge or even 16 gauge wire. Which will not carry an amp load Without tripping the 10 amp circuit breaker that is built-in.This one here uses 12 gauge wire which is actually rated for 20 Amps. Although it says it’s rated for 14 Amps. So I feel much better about using this cord.

This would have been perfect but sadly I didn't realize that it was only 14 amps until I already ordered it. Nearly every other 12/3 cable is rated to 15 amps so I wasn't even looking at the amps but this was confirmed to be only 14 amps. To be fair, the vendor does state it in their description (which I found after going back to read the description). They were also quick to respond to a question so I do appreciate their customer responsiveness. I just missed it because 12 gauge cords are nearly always 15 amp.If you want this to work with 15 amp power tools look elsewhere. Otherwise, this feels very heavy duty and should be good for your 14 amp and lower uses.

You absolutely must drill the proper size size pilot hole in order for these to be mounted into your studs. The long screws.com grooves that come with the unit are not made of a very strong material, and if they strip out, there's no way to get them back off other than drilling the heads off the screws and then using pliers to get the screw body out.(ask me how I know). I had drilled pilot holes but one size too small. I switched over to a different stainless steel screw with a hexagon top that I could drive with a nut driver, and that worked much better.
