I was skeptical at first as I have more than a few Baofeng radios, including the beast UV-25, but now, this is hands down my favorite Ham/GMRS radio. CHIRP is great, but being able to program the TD-H3 with your phone via Bluetooth anywhere you are can't be beat. There are other great features that make this radio truly a big step forward in creating a new modern standard in communications, whether for travelling in a convoy or in a grid-down scenario. Not to mention, all kinds of YouTube HOWTO videos.

I have tried quite a few Baofeng and other brands that make cheaper radios and this H3 has outperformed them all. It has very good reception and will pick up transmission when my other radios would not. I am not a huge fan of the display but the menu is easy to navigate and it can be programmed with a computer or your phone. I've even used it as a hammer before.

I have a number of different HTs, different brands. Overall, the TD-H3 performs better than my other HTs, but it had one problem. There's always a chance you'll get a radio with a problem, so it's very important for any company to provide excellent support, and they did. So I can recommend this radio without hesitation. The radio is great for air band reception, better than a similar radio I have. It has features you don't often find in radios of a similar price, including stun, kill, and revive, as well as Bluetooth programming and programming through the USB-C port. It works fine with the Chirp software, which is my preferred programming app.I have both a Ham and GMRS license, so I enjoy using the radio for both. So far, this is the best HT in its price class that I've used, and I have a LOT of HTs in this price class.

This is the cheapest (~$35 per radio) feature-rich analog HAM handset, with GMRS support, and uniquely easy and broad programming options, as well as very broad scanning and receive coverage, at this price. This has my highest recommendation as the cheapest/first handset for a HAM or GMRS user.First — Some simple button presses allow reboot/reset into HAM-only or GMRS only or BOTH (“Normal” mode — aka unlocked) support. Note: such reset will clear all settings and channels from the device.Second — Literally unique in having the highest number and variety of very powerful and extremely easy to use ways to program the settings, frequencies, channels, repeaters, etc into the radio via all these options:- K1 Cable with FTDI connector (not included) or USB cable (included) or Bluetooth- using Chirp on Windows PC or Mac or Linux- or using Odmaster on Windows PC or iOS or Android.- or wireless clone everything — all settings/frequencies/channels/ctcss/dcs/repeater offsets/etc from the entire H3 handset into another H3 handset.- Instantly and easily scan/copy/save incoming unknown frequency and privacy tone/code from any other radio.Third — It can receive 8 different bands, including airband AM, commercial FM radio, and NOAA frequencies. BUT it cannot receive CB, and it is not a super-heterodyne receiver. HOWEVER, almost no HAM or GMRS radios can receive CB nor have any super-heterodyne receiver until you get to around 7x this price anyway.Fourth, some other unique features for a handset this cheap, such as:- Beautiful color screen with lots of info to cover the included features- Extra (second) antenna included specific for airband AM use- Includes BOTH a charge dock (easy/stable to pickup/drop-off) AND USB-C data/charge cable (faster-charging) AND charger block (don't have to buy separately)- high capacity battery AND very efficient standby (~2 days)- voice-scramble (not encryption, just some hard-to-discern tone filters) for a little more privacy, unscrambled on other Tidradio H3 handsets. And finally, yes it supports all the other features you'd expect in an analog HAM or GMRS handset at this super cheap price:- Lots of channels and channel banks to set up scanning of different groups- Decent 5w output.- Flashlight, K1 earpiece- All the usual ham features such as repeater frequency offsets, CTCSS/DCS tones, squelch, tail control, time-out timer, DTMF, etc. Some of the features like handset-to-handset wireless cloning, or voice scramble mode, require two handsets. But for all this at $35 per handset, or $55 for a package of two, it's a great deal to get two of them. Very happy that I did.
