This is an AMAZING manual coffee grinder. Everything about it says, “Quality.”The box is compact and sturdy. When I opened it, there is a “Coffee Particle-size Distribution,” which is an indication that the company does research on its products and does not only rely on customer feedback. This is good. The box contains not only the coffee grinder, but also a nice brush for cleaning, and a cloth carrying bag for storage and travel. The latter item was not expected, and a nice bonus since the grinder itself is fairly compact for travel. There are also instructions and a “Certification,” which looks impressive, but I’m not exactly what is being certified with respect to the ceramic products, glass products, plastic products, stainless steel products, and silicon products that are mentioned. Of those materials, the only one included in the grinder would be stainless steel. I was surprised that aluminum was not included in the list of materials. The grinder fits into the box in foam cutouts. The color (mine is a lime-green) is contrasted nicely with the black foam and matches nicely with the box color. I mention this because if the grinder is used as a gift, know that its packaging and presentation are top notch. The grinder’s anodized aluminum finish is flawless. The top part, containing the grinder mechanism, is knurled, which affords a comfortable grip when holding it to grind coffee beans. The bottom third (about), which contains the ground-coffee, is a smooth matted finish. In lifting the grinder out of the box, it has a nice heft to it. It feels like a quality tool. I received a surprise when I lifted up the folded handle into a grinding position; it snapped into place. Unlike some manual grinders with fold-down handles, this one is completely rigid when it is in place. That is, in spite of the fact that the handle folds down, there is no flex in the joint when it is in its working position; it is a clever design, and the handle is beautifully finished. The turning knob on the handle is anodized aluminum, matching the grinder’s body.In taking the grinder for a spin, the top spins freely. There are some good bearings in this tool. My impression is that it is a precision instrument. In using the grinder, its capacity is about three tablespoons of beans, which is perfect for my “six-cup” mocha pot. With its good bearings, the grinder’s handle is easy to turn. The grinding mechanism itself is designed to do a preliminary breakdown of the beans before they are ground to the final fineness. This means that the grinding goes relatively quickly (for a hand grinder) since there are not big beans immediately being ground into tiny particles. The resulting grind is quite uniform (which is good, it gives a more uniform extraction).Adjustments to the grind are made by a metal knob that’s revealed when one unscrews the bottom chamber that holds the ground coffee. This tool would make a marvelous presentation gift, or a marvelous gift to oneself. This is not the cheapest quality grinder, but it’s a pleasure to use and I’d highly recommend it.

I'm new to grinding my own coffee, so I don't have anything to compare this to, but I can say it's very easy to turn the crank, and the coffee looks pretty evenly ground. I've just started making pour over coffee, and I drink one big cup. This grinds the perfect amount of coffee for me. I'm no gourmet by a long shot, but even I can tell the difference in freshly ground and pre-ground. I use it every day. Very solid and seems well made. I really like the green color, too.
