This BE5000 outdoor WiFi7 router is capable of amazing things, it has PoE+ support meaning if you use a PoE injector, you can place this almost anywhere that an ethernet cable can reach. This router/access point/mesh point can be mounted outside but is only rated for IP65 meaning that the device is dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. This means that it can still sustain damage in the event that there is a downpour of water. I really wish this were IP66 rated which allows for double the amount of protection against liquids.IP65 only provides protection for: Water projected by a nozzle (6.3 mm (0.25 in) against enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects. While IP66 would provide protection for Water projected in powerful jets (12.5 mm (0.49 in)) against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects.Unfortunately, at IP65 this is good for outdoor use but may have issues when exposed to heavy rain.Good product still, it's capable of high speeds and has support for 2.5Gb ports, but will be limited to the slowest link, meaning if your network is overall 1Gbps, you will not realize the 2.5Gb other than the devices connected directly to those 2.5Gb or wireless links.

Works well out of the box. It's not the most sophisticated router, nor the most user friendly, nor the best featured -- but it's decent across the board and it's (almost uniquely) weather-proofed. (More suitable for sitting under limited cover, rather than outright sitting on the ground in a flood zone... but that's a pretty reasonable ask.) So really that's what I'm judging this on -- can I stick it out on a patio and get good basic WiFi coverage in my backyard. By that metric, this works just great. Note that the ideal setup would pair this into a seamless WiFi network with other TP-Link Deco units, so you'll most appreciate this if your existing home network is all TP-Link Deco; you will otherwise end up with just an extra/separate WiFi network for this unit, which may or may not be ideal for you.

I live in a rancher that has cinderblock walls and thick stone, as in full sized stone and concrete capping. That is two surfaces that are tough to get a Wi-Fi signal to get through. Consequently, the entire front of my home provides very weak, and often dropped out signals. An event notification comes through, and by the time my cameras secure even a weak connection the event has passed, and I did not capture it.This TP-Link BE5000 Dual Band Wi-Fi 7 Outdoor Mesh Extender is the ultimate solution. First off it runs off of an ethernet POE cable, a single cable that carries both the ethernet, and power. It is not piggybacking the weak Wi-Fi signal. I'm not saying that the cameras that are even farther away, as in down the other end of the house would not benefit from this device capturing a signal that is somewhat stronger closer to the router end, but I am saying that overall the weaker signal over Wi-Fi to start with would be crippling. So, the end result is I am running my BE5000 with the hardwire, via POE ethernet and since it is outside, mounted on the wall in front of my garage the cinderblock/stone wall is no longer blocking the signal. Consequently, there is a direct line of sight to all my security cameras across the front of the house. That means not only am I not getting dropped signals, I am also able to set my high end ReoLink 8MP 4K cameras on high resolution. When the signal was weaker before I had to set it to a lower resolution which was radically different. Everything is crystal clear on High Res.My home is also located in a weak cell phone signal area, so I set my phone to automatic Wi-Fi as a preference, then when I am home I'm using the Wi-Fi signal to make calls. This way, even when I am outside of the house, out front for example on the driveway, I am still getting my cell phone signal via Wi-Fi. Since it supports the latest Wi-Fi 7 security protocols with WPA3 encryption no passerby is going to get through to my network, at least not without the proper passwords and login credentials. Overall, a great solution for your networking signal strength.

I've been using a Deco mesh system for about a year, and for the most part, have been really happy with it. Configuration is easy, and the system has been very stable! The apps used for administration are layed out well, and consistent between Mac and IOS. Range is decent, but I was having issue getting a wifi signal out side to some lightbulbs that I use to change their color on my garage columns for different holidays. This access point is perfect for mounting outside and seems like it will be weatherproof. It has a nice seal on the bottom for connections, and is easy to mount.

If you have Deco system already then set up will be pretty much plug and play. I had mine up and running in less than a minute with the app. Took longer to find a spot and screw the mount to the wall. Parts of my house are brick so wifi isn't always great outside but this solved that issue for me. Upon opening there's a note that says this could also function as a router which is cool. The bottom has to be unscrewed to access the ports and the wires are squished between two rubber pieces for water resistance. Comes with a Cat5e cable, zip ties and some wall screws. The only thing that worries me is how it'll function on hot summer days since I don't see any way for it to vent.
