I used to have in the past several Hikvision NVRs, but to be honest, if you don't get it through the official sales network, the official support is zero. After my latest Hikvision NVR broke I found this TP-Link NVR and thought I give a try.To my amazement, all the Hikvision cameras I've got could connect on the NVR through POE. All I had to do is add an account in the ONVIF section and enable ONVIF on the cameras. I also added a 4th camera from TP-Link, which was not directly connected to the NVR.. that never worked with my old NVRs.I installed a 4TB HDD and started recording. Note: I'm not sure how the temperature of the HDD will affect the NVR; there seems not much airflow possible. So, everything seemed to work ok... however, a few days later I noticed that the system time of the NVR changed to something completely different that what I had set initially and the recording times didn't match the system times...a symptom was that it seem not to start recording before 10am in the morning. I started to troubleshoot in all possible ways, setting the system time manually or NTP, nothing made a difference.. the system time was never right, nor was the recording time.I contacted TP-Link support, they responded very quickly back and after providing my configuration they were acknowledging that there seems to be a problem with the firmware and I should try a beta firmware, which they supplied. And that fixed the issue.. with the exception that the VIGI manager client software still had 1 hour off, possibly due to DST as once DST was over, that was also corrected. I believe that issue is known to TP-Link.Another "hiccup" I noticed is that the NVR randomly goes offline for a few minutes (around 10 minutes), however, the recording continued during that time, and I couldn't find any issues with my network so far. Also, now and then, when accessing the NVR over the 5G/4G mobile network randomly the NVR seems to be alive, but the cameras show a "Could not connect" error, all of them.... it either recovers after some time by itself or a reboot with the VIGI mobile manager app over the phone seem to restore the service. So, I still believe I did a good purchase, just a few quirks and hiccups, which should be able to be fixed by firmware updates. If you have not critical environment or a need for pure stability, I believe it's a great cost-effective solution. I hope that future firmware updates will fix the issues experienced.Update May 2024:A new firmware was rolled out and I haven't experienced any of the issues mentioned above anymore. So far I'm happy with the purchase.
