I saw the some reviews where people took photos of their drum brakes all rusted. This happens, it's normal. The braking surface on the inside of the drum is what matters. Having had a pair of these aftermarket drums on my car I learned the rust lesson and while it looks terrible it still functions properly. So I did some prep work before having them installed. I used Dawn power spray on the drums and waited a couple minutes and cleaned the oil off the drum from the manufacturer. I then dried the drum with paper towels and an actual cloth towel. Be careful as that surface is rough and it will grab both paper towel fibers as well as the cotton towel fibers. You want to try and remove these.Second, I taped off the center of the drum to prevent being covered by paint. I previously bought heat resistant silver paint from the local store. I sprayed the first coat and let it dry 30 minutes, then did a second/third coat and let it dry completely. I then removed the painters tape and the worker was done.

I put these on my 2008 focus about 5000 miles ago and they are getting noisy already. I am ordering another set. I sure hope the second set is better then the first. Glad it only takes a few minutes to change. I could care less about them rusting.
