I bought glass one-serving liquor bottles from the liquor store, drank them, then used the glass bottles for small paraffin-oil lamps using these tops.Tip: to insert the cord, cut the frays to make a 'point' or pointed tip and push it in while twisting. Once it's started in it's easy to thread. If you mush it, simply cut another point onto one end and try again.Okay, at first they horrified me because the whole top would light up and burn. Don't worry, it won't explode. But once they 'season' in, like the one on the right hand side, they deliver a controlled flame.Yes, I lose my nerve and blow them out at the stage they are on the left, but after a few times they settle in and become like the one on the right all the time.Bonus! Small oil lamps cost $20 to $40, but using shapely glass bottles from the liquor store costs only $3 or $4. And they last a good, oh I dunno, 12 hours? Kinda perfect for putting in bathrooms during parties to absorb odors or using for decor in the fireplace when you don't feel like doing the whole log thing.

The ceramic tops (which are pretty fragile and small) are too little for the thick cheap rope to fit through without breaking or chipping. The rope also frays very easily. Returning immediately. Do not buy
