Tells you everything you need to know about your solar panels. Only way to know if your panels are putting out the power you paid for.

I'm no professional solar installed but I was having difficulty with a solar setup with 40 panels in parallel. It was hard to really tell what was and wasn't working from just multi meter readings alone. Plus it was a bit difficult to test with standard leads while on a ladder reaching over the roof of a large vehicle. This has actual MC4 connectors and does a dead simple full test allowing me to figure out what's going on more easily. For the price I recommend this even for just smaller projects.

I love the fact that this meter doesn't require batteries and receives all its operating power from the solar panel being tested. Several years ago, there was a company selling 200w solar panels that were deliberately labeled wrong and were actually only 100w panels. That product is no longer sold on Amazon, but I was one of those people that purchased the fake 200w panels. When I tested the UT673PV Solar Panel Tester I used the fake panel to see if the meter could actually detect the fraudulent wattage rating. The meter did indeed identify the maximum wattage output of the 200w solar panel to actually be 85 - 93 watts. Next, I connected the meter to a real 200-watt solar panel array, and it accurately displayed 185 - 195 watts. You can run the meter in Auto where it will re-test the panel after a brief time delay or you can use the manual option to test every time you physically push the button. This meter has self-protection against overheating and over voltage. Besides the meter it also comes with two plastic wrenches to help you get the solar connectors apart. My only criticism and the one thing that I don't understand is why the meter gives you such a fluctuation in test results. If my Sun intensity is unchanged for ten minutes and my solar panels are not moved or blocked in ten minutes, then wouldn't you expect the same test results over the course of ten minutes? That doesn't happen with the UT673PV Solar Panel Tester which gives you constantly fluctuating results when set to Auto. This meter is however a crucial test instrument when verifying the amperage, wattage, and voltage of a solar panel or group of panel arrays. This meter gives you two types of test results one, is open circuit (no load) and the other is under simulated load with true voltage and amperage output.
