  • Specifications: 5-40 UNC tap and die set, right hand, 2B tolerance grade. Suitable for making or repairing male and female threads. Good for general purpose applications.
  • Application: Used for through hole processing, such as alloy steel, die steel, cast iron, ferrous and non-ferrous materials etc.. Great for maintenance and repair work.
  • Features: High speed steel (HSS) tool provides high hardness and good wear-resistance. With fine grinding process, tap and die set is sharp and durable, and with clear thread to meet the processing requirements.
  • Easy to Use: The fastening screw in the middle of the die wrench should be inserted into the slot of the die and tightened. The machine tap is suitable for drill presses, tapping machines, CNC and milling machines.
  • Tips: Used with tapping oil to get threads and more durable taps. Suitable lubricating oil should be added to the cutting edge of dies and taps when tapping.

I like the price because I will only need it once in a while. I used it to thread jags .

I had cut 4 custom length machine screws (no head) from allthread and was trying to use a nut to fix the threads, but this die was far more sharp and durable than a standard nut. I still had to file the edges of the screws a bit, but I'm really happy with this die. To grip the screw for repairing the threads, I used a piece of rubberized cork to hold it in a vise so that the threads were not damaged by the vise while repairing the threads at the end of the screws.

Good quality, good engagement to material and accurate threads. Watch the Joe Pie video on YouTube on how to make a small tap holder to use these without breaking them. And using Tap Magic will make things easier for you,
