Bought this product with the thought it would keep my transmission temp at a lower temp. Well I was wrong, the temperature of my transmission before install was about 185 degrees, after install and a transmission service with new filter and fluid my transmission temp is still 185 degrees. Maybe I should have just bought the one from the dealership that guarantees the temp won't be over 156 degrees.

The product is what I was looking for by the craftsmanship was poor. There was still slag metal in it.

I installed this on my 2015 Tahoe. The fit and finish is identical to the upgraded GM part 86774933. This valve closes off the coolers until transmission fluid reaches 145 degrees. It then gradually opens as additional cooling is needed. It is fully open by 158 degrees. At that point how hot fluid temperature gets is determined by the capability of the vehicles coolers, the same as if the thermostat was bypassed altogether. The advantage of using this thermostat instead of a “pill flip” or bypass valve is to allow fluid to reach operating temperature quickly as well as maintain ideal temperature. That is especially important in cooler climates.I also installed one of these in my sons 2017 Suburban and a neighbors as well. They are working perfectly, the same as the OEM part but at a more affordable price.East to install on the outside of the transmission case.
