This is an excellent dash camera. It's not tiny, but it's not huge, either. It's got a few nice bells and whistles, but not so many that it becomes onerous to work with it. I've had one before, and Rexing has learned a LOT since 2017, and they now include EXTRA mounting hardware for *both* the front and rear cameras. They also include cable tabs! That way, you can route the cables properly, and make sure they don't flop around. The mounting tape is shaped to fit the mount, and it's no joke. It won't release in summer heat, but can still hold fast in freezing cold. Before mounting it to your car, MAKE SURE you check your state laws! Some states restrict what you can put on your windshield, and putting it in the wrong spot can get you in trouble. I mounted mine on the passenger side, where it doesn't interfere with my line of sight. Also, when you do your test fit? If you're placing it close to the top of your windshield, be sure to give yourself an extra half-inch of space before mounting it permanently. That way, you'll be able to slide the camera up and off the mount for cleaning.Routing cables under the headliner on newer cars is so much easier than it used to be. Check online to see how to remove the headliner on your car, and mounting the rear camera will be a piece of cake. I found existing cable clips up there, so I was able to route my rear camera wire through those, keeping it clear of the SRS airbags. If you're ever in an accident, you don't want those cables getting blasted into your face! So make sure you route them properly! As for power, you can usually find an adapter that will allow you to tap into the cables for your auto-darkening mirror, even if your particular model doesn't have it. The connector will be up there, so look for DashCam Power Adapter online. I bought mine on Amazon from PixelMan, and their customer service rep got back to me in 24 hours to confirm which type I needed. And they gave me an EXTRA coupon code! Bonus!!Always try to use an adapter that connects to an existing plug, rather than a power tap on a hot wire. And if you do use a power tap, make sure it's a good one, with it's own fuse! Otherwise you'll be hunting blown fuses under your hood or behind your dashboard. The video quality is top-notch, and you can see everything in excellent detail. Night vision is superb, and with the supplied filters, you won't get "starburst" from oncoming headlights or street lamps. You will see strobing effects on LED headlights, street lights and brake lights, but that doesn't detract from the video quality, and cannot be helped. It's not as slick and pretty as some of the higher-end cameras, but it's definitely a welcome addition to my car's safety package.

--- Read below review for the "real-world" application of having a dash cam and why it's a must. ---I am replacing an older Rexing dash cam with this one for three main reasons.- One, I want to add a rear facing camera to my vehicle- Two, I want to review the video clips without the need of a computer- Three, I wanted to install a system where I can use the current hard wired power that activates when the vehicle is started. Some things I like: The power input is the same as previous Rexing products, the unit is extremely light weight and will not fall off the window in high temperatures, the units geometry is conducive for fitment behind the rearview mirror and small enough to stay above the AS1 line, video files can be accessed from a smartphone without the need of a computer, glare filter eliminates white blind spots on video, the rear camera has a green light illuminated that is visible in the rearview mirror to indicate it's operational.Somethings I don't like: Once the front camera is mounted, I found it difficult to adjust menu settings due to the angle of the camera. I recommend removing the camera from its mount and adjusting. I don't like that some of the settings are not able to be changed from the smartphone. If the phone is connected, make all the settings accessible. For example, it took me several minutes to find the setting to turn the button sound off.How I mounted the cameras: I used the previous Rexing hard wired power source so I didn't need to run that wire again. I was able to route the rear camera cable to the rear of the vehicle by tucking it under the headliner along the door seals. I used the rooftop antenna as a center line for the rear glass and applied blue painters tape on the outside of the window as a reference point to align the camera from inside. NOTE: mount the cameras in such a way that if you need to remove them from the mount, they will slide off without hitting any obstructions. I mounted the glare filters before I hung the cameras. Be sure to line up the rear camera lens filter to the indentation on the camera. And just so you know, the screws are already installed on the filter lenses, the ones in the bag are spares. Once the cameras were mounted, I connected to the cameras WiFi, changed the default password, then previewed the cameras. I found if I cycled through the preview, I can make each camera fill the screen for adjustment instead of being a picture in picture. Once I was viewing the correct camera, I rotated the filter lens to change the focus depth to my desired location. The image is crisp and very detailed. I was able to easily read the license plate on my truck from 30' in front of the car. With the increase of fraudulent auto insurance claims, it is just a matter of time before a dash cam becomes the silent, unbiased, and never sleeping witness to an "accident". As I was driving in May, a truck collided with the passenger side of my car causing nearly $8,000 in damage. According to the other party, I was stopped waiting to make a left turn and just as they attempted to merge from a lane that was ending, I accelerated and ran into them. Now it's my word against theirs right? No, it's my dash cam's eye witness without emotion from either party that showed the Maryland State Police the other party was at fault. Had it not been for the dash cam, who knows what would have happen. Why would I recommend Rexing dash cam? I have other dash cams including built into a Tesla, an Apeman camera in a truck, and I've installed other cameras for friends in their cars. I've seen other cameras fall from the windshield in extreme hot temperatures because the cameras are heavy. I've seen the screens break due to extreme temperature changes like running a defroster in the winter. I've seen the sd cards stop working because the dash cam does not have active cooling or ventilation. I'm not a professional mechanic but I do like helping friends when they ask and because of that, I've seen a lot of cameras. I honestly don't recommend anything else now but Rexing now. I've had some of their cameras for 10 years and they are still working. In fact, when I sold a 2008 Scion XB, the dash cam went with it and was still working. So can you get a dash cam at a lower price? Of course you can. But let me ask you, when the guy in the pickup truck side swipes you causing $8,000 in damage, are you confident your other camera will deliver a clear message of what really happened?

I recently purchased the Rexing V1P SE dash cam, and I have been thoroughly impressed with its performance. This compact device offers excellent video quality and a range of useful features that make it a great addition to any vehicle.First and foremost, the video quality is outstanding. The camera resolution ensures that every detail is captured clearly, whether it’s during the day or at night. The wide-angle lens provides a broad field of view, allowing me to capture everything happening in front of my car and behind it with ease.Installation was a breeze, thanks to the included adhesive mount and rotating lens. I was able to set up the dash cam in minutes and adjust it to the perfect angle for optimal recording. The compact design of the camera means that it doesn’t obstruct my view while driving, which is a big plus. One feature that I particularly appreciate is the loop recording function. This ensures that the dash cam is always recording, and old footage is automatically overwritten by new recordings. It gives me peace of mind knowing that I won’t miss any important events on the road.Additionally, the built-in G-sensor detects collisions and automatically locks the footage to prevent it from being overwritten. This is a crucial feature in the event of an accident, as it preserves valuable evidence for insurance claims.Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my purchase of the Rexing V1P SE dash cam. It offers excellent video quality, easy installation, and a range of useful features at an affordable price point. I would highly recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable dash cam for their vehicle.

Having owned Rexing cameras in the past, particularly a V1LG dual camera, this new V1P SE unit brings a host of welcomed new features and improvements.I will first start out by saying my original V1LG camera is still going strong even after being permanently installed in a vehicle that is subjected to extreme heat and freezing temperatures year round. I would ascertain that the build quality of the new V1P SE is the same albeit the footprint of the unit is more streamlined easier to mount. Some of the welcomed new features include a 90 degree rear camera plug that allows for a cleaner installation and less clutter on the upper part of your windshield. The harness is also a bit smaller than previous generations which makes fishing the rear camera wire through the roof and towards the rear window or hatch a bit easier.Another great thing about this unit is that it comes with two mounting brackets and two 3M adhesive strips. This is great for when you want to actually either have a spare or want to transfer the unit to another vehicle quickly. The use of 3M strips and now, electrostatic stickers, is also a great improvement from the older generation adhesive, which would sometimes fail prematurely from excessive heat in the warmer months. The new mounting method is rock solid and ensures a solid mount as opposed to just adhering directly to glass, just be sure to wait the mentioned 20 minutes before mounting the camera. The unit itself is also a bit smaller which also lends itself to not being so big and bulky on your windshield. You can tuck it up high and out of the way and still have access to the controls and adjustment's if need be without having to have the unit mounted too far down from the top of your windshield.Another great feature about the V1P SE is the built in wifi. It may seem trivial but it's one less step to have to worry about when you need or want to review your footage quickly. Instead of having to take the internal SD card out and then view it on a computer, you can view it right on your phone instead. This feature alone is extremely handy over previous generations of cameras released by Rexing. Now the CPL filter is a neat bonus and one that I found to be another nice addition compared to my older Rexing camera. Morning commutes sometimes point me in the direction of the rising sun and the glare from that makes the video recordings somewhat unusable in some instances. With the filter I've noticed that the glare is significantly reduced, and the video is much more clear. I opted to use the screwdriver to affix the CPL filter to the lens but it's optional, I don't think it would fall off but opted to just use the screws as they were provided. One thing to bear in mind when installing the rear camera is that the harness provided for it, has a keyed notch with four very small pins inside a molded connector to complete the connection. There are arrows imprinted on the plastic, albeit black, but be sure to take care when connecting this portion as the pins are very delicate. I chose to install the harness from the rear of the vehicle as the 90 degree 1/4" connector could take a bit more abuse being fished through the headliner of the vehicle, rather than the moulded 4 pin side. Your installation method will vary of course, but it's something to keep in mind.Moving on from installation and features, the unit itself allows for full customization of just about every aspect of use. This includes scrubbing and playback of video, changing date, time, resolution and a parking monitor option. The parking monitor option I will be able to follow up on in a separate review once I receive my smart hardwire kit after it arrives. There is one other external piece of hardware that is offered for this unit and that is a motion detection option. It's sold separately, and I did not know that you can get it with the smart hardwire kit, it's not sold individually from what I can see, so something to think about if you opt to do a hardwire install and want to take advantage of the motion sensor features, it may be best to get the kit that has both. Still, the fact that you can extend the functionality of this camera to detect motion and record constantly is another added bonus. One thing I am looking for Rexing to offer is a 12v sealed battery to power the unit separately from your existing battery to prevent drain.Overall this is a feature packed unit with more resolution in the front and rear cameras that is sharp and perfect for identifying license plates and faces from near and far, much more than the previous generation I own. It's essentially a must have for all of my vehicles going forward and frankly the best dash cam I've used to date by Rexing.
