The work similar to the drums on my surface finisher, but I'm able to get into tighter spots with these on my angle grinder that I just can't reach with the surface finisher. They strip off paint and rust pretty quickly and leave a good smooth surface ready for primer. My angle grinder isn't variable speed so I think I ate through the discs much faster than if I would have been able to lower the rpm some. They did hold together at full speed without issue, but I think you could get more life out of them at lower speed, somewhere around 6-8,000 rpm instead of the 12,000 rpm of my angle grinder.

I often recycle, rebuild, and upgrade grills and smokers that people are throwing out, and that naturally involves a lot of stripping the paint and rust off the body, maybe a bit of welding, then repainting. So I tend to go through a lot of these stripping wheels and flapper disks. There really isn't much to review here. I could go on for hours about the specifics of various abrasives for different types of jobs, but most folks who use these already know all that, so they're really just interested if these disks work well and have enough load of abrasive to get your money's worth of clean metal before the disk wears down, and these definitely do. I just recently stripped a fairly good sized grill with a side firebox and cast iron grates, down to shiny bare metal in about 20 minutes, with a single disk, and I still have a bit of disk left, which I'll probably use to clean up some square tube to weld on for some new legs. Overall, these disks do everything I need and I haven't had any problems with them after going through 2 of them so far. Seems really solid to me.

I've used similar discs in the past but thought I'd give these Vantego discs a try. I feel like they are more suited for some kind of mini grinder which I've never run into. I tried these discs with a couple of my 4 1/2" die grinders, trying to see if they would seat properly. The center hole is only 5/8", not as large as the normal 7/8" arbor. While they did seem to mount securely and center without undue vibration, it doesn't seem very safe to use like that. The outer diameter is also mini, measuring less than 3 7/8" instead of my other 4 1/2" discs. While this small size permits them to be used in some tight situations where larger wheels won't fit until worn down, they feel undersized compared to regular sized wheels. In use, they work well to remove finishes and light rust. I find these wheels work great for cleaning up aluminum edges and welds. They're less aggressive than a grinding disc or flap wheel, and can conform well into corners. They don't last very long when polishing welds, but result in a nice clean surface. I've also used them to strip wood, and they don't tend to burn the wood like flap wheels can.The flat face of the discs with recessed grinder nut means they can be pushed flat against a plate for a quick polish before painting. While these are useful and mostly as described, they are slightly under the stated measurement and I'd recommend getting a larger size. And definitely make extra sure that a 5/8" hole size is appropriate for your grinder before ordering these.

If you need to remove old coatings from metal, these are excellent for that. I prefer them to flap discs for removal of old paint because they don't remove metal unless you're really careless.I also like using these for surface conditioning after grinding and/or sanding. They leave a nice dull sheen to the metal, ready for paint or even a clear coating.A variable speed angle grinder definitely improves the experience as well, allowing you greater control without having to worry about whether 10,000 rpm is too fast for what you're trying to accomplish.I could not get these to load up with coatings. I'm sure it is possible if you're trying to remove something gummy, but for paint and surface debris, these work excellent and last a pretty long time!

These worked great for removing the paint in my old square body project truck where I needed to weld. The grit rating is spot on. They are a good quality product and a good value.
