I ordered this in a small for my 5 year old who typically wears a size 6-7, and it fit her very well. Unfortunately, the tulle underskirt is insanely itchy. My daughter does dance, so she is no stranger to itchy recital outfits, but the tulle in this is so stiff and itchy that she said it was hurting her waist. I ended up cutting out the tulle portion, which means the skirt isn't as puffy as it would be, but at least my daughter will wear it now. If you have a kiddo with sensory issues, I would definitely steer clear of this outfit, or plan for a more comfortable layer underneath.The lacing in the front comes up higher than pictured, which I actually like and think looks better than the photo. But if you would like the costume to look closer to the listing picture, you could just not lace the top set or two of grommets - the pink portion is sewn to the white, so it won't sag or hang open if you choose not to lace it all the way.The apron is a separate piece, and it is only about 6.5" x 6.5". I think that size looks fine with the small costume (and presumably larger-sized costumes come with a larger apron), but is definitely smaller than I anticipated. There are no belt loops to hold it in place, but it seems to stay up fine just being tied at the waist.

Got this for Oktoberfest and ordered true to size, its huge!! Will probably fit great next year.The material is what I imagine when I think big-box halloween store, the design is cute, and its functional. Overall it's not really my favorite, but for something the kids can wear and destroy and it won't break my heart it's great.
