This contact kit and plunger worked great for my 98 4Runner with the 3.4 v6. Everything matched my starter and had the right contacts. Fixed my intermittent no start just clicking issue.

Great quality product. Fit like OEM in my 86 Landcruiser 70 Series starter. Nippon Denso starters are known for contacts to go after 300k also know for bendix clutch inside the starter going as well. Do both of you are thinking of a rebuild. OEM starters are way better build quality than aftermarket ones, so it is worth rebuilding them.

Actually came with six contacts instead of the four listed in the picture. Worked perfectly to replace the old worn starter contacts on my 2000 Toyota 4Runner 3.4.

I installed this kit in a 1988 Toyota Truck with the 22R engine. Getting the starter out was a trick requiring me to lower the front sway bar and remove the Automatic Trans Line clamp. Rebuild was really simple. Three 8mm screws hold the solenoid cover on. Be careful to remove the gasket very gently and you can reuse it. First photo shows the carbon build up on the contacts on the positive contact and 1/2 the thickness was gone creating more severe arcing of the plunger. Second photo shows new contacts in. Both sides required 14mm socket to remove the terminal studs. Pay attention to and do not lose any insulators in the stack between the nut and the terminal's square head. New contacts have a tendency to rotate when they are being tightened which will create high spots on which the plunger will ride shortening the contact's life. Best way to avoid this is to back-up the square head with a wrench while tightening the nut then check with your fingernail if the lower surface of the contact is flat on the mounting plate. Third photo shows new plunger slipped in. The back side on my old plunger copper ring was completely black from arcing on the old contacts. Really cheap rebuild of the original 30 year old starter! Works perfectly and completely eliminated the problem I was having when the key was turned to START all I would get was a click from the starter.
