It does what it is says it will. For a simple product, that is all it needs to do.

Good, solid action as though it has a quality potentiometer. Light gives some clue that it's on.

WHAT HAPPENED? (Problem requiring the use of this product):I bought this device because I had a very unfortunate bad luck that happened while I attempted to repaste my PlayStation 3 console GPU & CPU. Which is that I accidentally broke the (3) pin fan connector that was soldered to the Motherboard. However, I'm quite experienced having disassembled & cleaned multiple consoles to this day. Even repaired a few parts in some of them, others that I modded & repasted, and upgraded a few by adding more/better memory (SSD)... So it's not like I don't know how careful you need to be with these babies. But this one broke so quickly & easily, it's something I've never seen before.GOOD TO KNOW / HOW FRAGILE THE PS3 SLIM IS / HOW IT'S MADE INSIDE:After researching the subject, I realized that other users have encountered the same problem due to the (3) pin fan connector that's cheaply soldered & extremely fragile. A Tech from a computer shop who's well experienced in having repaired different systems told me that all PlayStation consoles PS3, PS4 and even the PS5 have that same crappy connector attached to the Motherboard, so be warned, people! The thing is, to be able to repaste the PS3 SLIM, you need to completely disassemble the console, and remove parts to access the Motherboard, that's covered by/located between (2) metal sheets that you have to unscrew (a lot of screws). The Motherboard is fragile & the way the console is made, you could easily break it.Regarding the (3) pin fan connector... The fan is attached to the motherboard & its wire passes through a hole that's in one of the two metal sheets, which makes the experience very risky & difficult. In case you plan to repaste your PS3 SLIM, I recommend just unscrewing the fan & not touching the (3) pin fan connectors at all. Leave them attached to the motherboard, be extremely careful & find a way to make sure it doesn't move to avoid pulling the fan wire while you're repasting. It's something I should have done myself but instead, I tried disconnecting the (3) pin connector & that was a huge mistake.A HOMEMADE SOLUTION THAT WORKS BUT THAT'S NOT THE BEST:Some people who had the same problem have made YouTube videos on this topic. They have found that it's possible to use a cell phone power supply adapter, cut the USB cable then cut the PS3 fan wire and attach them to make it work (send power to the PS3 fans from an external source). But I wouldn't recommend it as the PS3 fan is (12V), this requires a (12V) power supply adapter to make sure it does the job perfectly. Otherwise, depending on how much your console overheats, only (5V) from an adapter like that may not be enough to cool it down.PRICE FOR REPAIRS VS. FINDING AN ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION FOR GOOD REASONS:Because I plan to eventually repaste the console in a few years, I didn't feel like having to pay a tech to resolder the connector for 65$ CAD and risk breaking it again the next time I repaste my PS3. Especially because I paid 50$ CAD for that console in a Pawn Shop.ONLINE RESEARCH:So I started researching for other alternatives, which made my life a nightmare for like a week until I found this product. However, I saw another version of the same product on Amazon that's more complete with an extension that transforms itself into the (3) pin fan connector of the PS3, which avoids having to cut the wire & having to buy an additional adapter. I really wish I found that other version before. But since it was too late as I already had cut the fan wire & and I found an adapter (fan wire to DC power supply plug) this product was exactly what I needed.BUYING A DIFFERENT FAN THAN CONTINUE USING THE PS3 FAN:Before I made that final decision, I brought my PS3 to test other solutions in a shop that sells adapters, and computer fans... Because I was trying to avoid cutting the PS3 fan wire, I thought about maybe buying a computer fan that would fit in the same space as the original fan, which I did. I tried a 12V and a 120V, of course with (2) different power supplies. The results were very disappointing but logical. Let me explain. As the guy at the computer shop explained, he said that computer fans won't be enough, they won't do the job because they only blow air straight forward while the original PS3 fan has a super ergonomic design (which I call magical) that's designed to blow the air everywhere in the console. So after having tested with the computer fans, it didn't take long for me to understand that the guy knew what he was talking about. My PS3 started to drastically overheat within less than 10 min of use. And these fans were running at full capacity because the shop didn't have a dimmer or switch like this product that I'm reviewing.ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION EXPLAINED:In other words, the solution I found was to be able to send power to the fan from an external source. (Note that this requires having to pierce a hole with a drill for the wire to come out in the back of the console). or on the side if you prefer but I prefer the back as it's aesthetically more appealing. Compared to getting the connector repaired by a tech, this solution is not ideal in terms of no longer being able to adjust the fan speed on my modded PS3 via the super cool interface it offers. That means now I have to manually adjust the fan speed myself & switch the fan ON and OFF when booting the PS3 as well as when shutting it down. But on the other hand, it's a huge weight on my shoulders that's now gone & it's also a true peace of mind.WHY DO YOU NEED THIS PRODUCT INSTEAD OF JUST BUYING A POWER SUPPLY:(running the PS3 fan at full capacity)I primarily thought that since my PS3 tended to overheat since day one, it probably would make sense to run the PS3 fans at full capacity (12V). And since the shop didn't have a dimmer/switch like this, my option was to purchase a simple Power Supply. When I got home, I thought my problem would be solved. But I soon realized I was wrong & had to do even more research because reality is, running the fan at full capacity (12V) is way too much, it sounds like a jet or something like that. lol... Trust me, no one wants that so a dimmer/switch is required to be able to enjoy gaming normally. The sound was so loud that I was worried about disturbing my neighbours.PRODUCT QUALITY & EFFICIENCY:I was amazed by how nice this product feels. I mean, the wheel isn't loose & it's very precise so that you know exactly how much power you're sending to the fan. In my case, because it's an early SLIM model, those tended to easily overheat just like the PHAT ones did. I also own (2) other PS3 SLIM and they've never had that overheating problem so that's something to take into account when you buy a PS3 SLIM. ;-)So with the PS3 that I modified due to the fan connector being broken (note that it overheated since the day I bought the console before I broke it), now that I'm using this product, I find that sending about 5V of power to the fan cools down the console enough with a maximum of (42 degrees Celsius) during gaming, and it never goes over that, which is awesome! :-)CABLES:The cables that are attached to the product seem like good quality, they should last a long time. My only complaint would be that I wish they were removable wires so that if they end up breaking, I could easily replace them instead of having to reorder this product or find something similar as this may no longer be available one day. Besides that, so far so good, it works as intended and in the end, I'm happy it solved my problem. Hope this helps a few people here, especially the ones who have encountered the same issue as I did with their PS3 fan.

I'm surprised at the quality of this DC adapter for $10. It does what it says it does. Plenty of variable speeds throught the nob's travel range. The nob has a nice feel to it, a tactile "tick" when turning on and off, and the connectors fit securely in their corresponding connection points. There's also a small blue light that indicates when it's on. I haven't had it for long, but so far when considering the other reviews as well, I would recommend it to others and buy it again myself if I had the need.

Compacto y muy práctico. Se ve de buena calidad. Quedó perfecto, lo uso para ya no usar pilas en calentador de paso Bosch y este es el que me sirve de 3V y 2A.
