I believe this hard shell case will better protect my Panasonic Lumix compact camera better than the soft case I used before, BUT, it did not come with way to mount the case on my belt. I bought some nylon strapping and had it hot-glued on to provide a belt loop and a small plastic ring to use with a carbineer. That arrangement is working fine around home. I will try it out on our next touring travel on a Caribbean cruise next week. (//

After reading the doubtful reviews, I wasn't going to buy this case. Some people said the camera doesn't fit, that the case is too big, and other things. But after looking at other cases I settled on this one, and I'm glad I did. Perhaps the others were trying to fit a wrong camera into it, but my Panasonic Lumix SZ200 fits perfectly, with just a little room at the end to fold the safety cord and tuck it in. The case fits in my cargo shorts and I ride a bike with it in my pocket. I recommend it provided you're not trying to fit a wrong camera into it.
