I have always wanted a ricer in order to make very smooth mashed potatoes. The construction of this ricer is excellent and it’s very heavy duty. It absolutely was able to stand up to the pressure of pushing potatoes through it. However, it is actually extremely hard to rice potatoes. I did not have the stamina to get through an entire pot of potatoes and resorted back to my traditional masher. That’s not the fault of this product simply a warning to those of you who think that they are going to slide through very easily. I am looking forward to other ways of using this ricer, such as dough or frosting for decorations.

I love the ease of making mashed potatoes, plus it's kind of fun!

Works great! Solid construction, indeed!!If there are tiny women out there complaining about the handles, they are likely having one of two issues, if not both:1) Holding it incorrectly - this product has no sharp edges, and any edges that it has are in places where it should never be held!!2) Not being able to use easily - this is a LARGE potato masher, and if you know anything about physics and leverage, you NEED big jaws like this has, to properly use it, and be able to sift the potatoes accordingly!! And you will need two hands to do so.If these are things you struggle with, this product is not the problem - you simply need smaller masher :) or a husband heheHope this helps!!! My husband loves this.

Always heard mash is so much creamier using this. I am now a believer, I have used it to make mashed carrot and potatoes also and it works great. Smooth and creamy. It is a little hard to push down, but I found that squeezing handles from the end, as opposed to trying to squeeze the middle is easier. And do not put too much in, it is just harder, I cut my potatoes in half and boil, then just do one at a time, instead of 2 or 3. You might be stronger, but I am able to use it as a 65 yr old lady, lol.
