No smelly butt ends when friends who smoke visit!Well worth the money, there is no aroma when disposed off in dustbin or any hot embers

I would only use this for outdoor parties, etc. not for everyday use. Doesn’t help the plastic pollution issue. But yes good for one off gatherings.

This arrives in a brightly coloured box measuring approx 11cm x 11cm x 8cm.Inside, you get a stack of 20 plastic ashtrays, a resealable bag of granules & instructions are printed on the side of the box.You need to add one opened sachet & 150ml of water to create the 'sand' & it takes just under 2 minutes to half fill one of the disposable trays.I know a lot of smokers & worked in a few different pubs back when you could smoke in them over the years.In the pubs I worked in, we didn't wash the ashtrays unless someone had spilled a liquid into them.We had a bucket to empty them into & a paintbrush.After brushing the contents into the bucket, they were clean as can be.These are only portable if you normally bring a 150ml measure & a water source with you.It says warm water, but I tested with water from the cold tap & couldn't tell the difference between the two.Ashes flicked from a cigarette just land on the surface & don't sink into the sand, so if used outside the ashes will blow around the place if there is any breeze.The damp 'sand' will put a cigarette out, but you could achieve the same result for a fraction of the cost buying value yoghurts which would actually be more portable & not even require added water.The ash from one cigarette leaves most of the surface covered in it & looks much less neat than the product images, so you would definitely want to bin one of these - it could hold half a dozen (maybe more) cigarettes, but I just don't get the point of these.They don't absorb any of the smoke, other than the bit that would come up from a cigarette that hadn't been put out properly & would be absolutely pointless for pipes.Not that smoking is ever going to be environmentally a positive thing, but if you have people visiting who smoke, reuse an old glass dessert pot & buy a super cheap paintbrush to clean it out - it would take a couple of seconds more than binning this, or just bin the dessert pot & eat more puddings.This is just creating even more landfill & takes up more space than a Gu pot or ceramic ashtray would.

I really like these! I've seen them floating around online and have been curious. I think they are incredibly helpful if you're staying somewhere away from home. We have stayed a few places (Airbnb etc) where we have smoked outside but not had an ashtray and wouldn't want to be disrespectful and drop ends on the floor so we have always struggled to find something to use as an ashtray, these would be a great solution for that or for those who don't smoke but have guests around, again these would be great. I've used a couple now and I'm very impressed how quickly the crystals turn into gel, literally less than a minute and its ready to use. The bags of crystals are so tiny and you wouldn't expect them to expand the way they do but they really do cover the base really well and they work great. Your cigarette goes out instantly as soon as it hits the gel so no fire risk and you can just throw away once done. I have managed to knock one over and it did create quite a mess on the floor but not really much different to the mess a normal ashtray would create so that's not really a negative. I love them, I got a pack of twenty which I'm sure will last me ages and they're a great price. Definitely recommend.
