When I received this mold, I thought that it was a female lion because I didn’t see a place for the mane so I thought that I’d better do a project with it immediately to see what was up and I’m really glad that I did because I had a couple of Ah has.1. So, it does include the mane! It’s just that the mold widens down deeper where the mane is!2. The surface of this mold is meant to be fur-like. The result of the mold is not smooth to the touch. It is a bit more rough. This fur effect affects the shine of the glitter and such that you put inside the lion. As you can see by the photo of the back of the lion, these are highly refractive elements that I put inside the resin. Yet, the shine is dampened down because of the rough surface of the lion. The multi-color super chunky glitter that I used on the back of the figurine is the same glitter that I used inside the figurine. It is a copper holographic glitter in 3 sizes. Yet, all you see is the copper color.3. The back of the figurine doesn’t feel quite right because suddenly it gets very flat. That is why I gave it the 4 star review. Yet, I don’t know that you could remove the figurine from the silicone if the figurine was removable from the bottom so maybe they made the best decision having the back of the figuring the exit point.4. This mold released my resin epoxy exceptionally easy and fast!5. This bear holds exactly 20mm of resin epoxy. Sure wish I had that info before making my example!6. For newbies: I mixed in my glitters and gold with the epoxy and then poured it in. This resulted in all of the glitter falling to the bottom of the mold. It may have been better for me to pour it in and then stir it after 45 minutes or so, so that the resin would harden a bit so that my glitter would float in the resin more evenly. I simply added glitter to the back of the lion but stirring while it was drying would have been a better solution.7. With a mold like this that has a real texture to it, make sure to add something to the back of the mold because the back of your figurine will look super shiny while the front, sides, top and bottom will be a Matt finish. I learned that I should have added something to the back that has a more matt texture look like faux leather or even better something more transparent but not shiny.I hope this helps you in your decision of whether this mold is right for you.
