TLDR: Good value for money, Ned rig works as intended and I've caught two bass so far on the red color dingers. However during bedding season, fish did not seem interested in the rig while aggressively attacking bluegill.I'm new to bass angling and was looking for a way to hook into bass in my local pond. This kit seemed to offer good value for money since it came with plenty of swim baits and two mushroom head jig heads, one heavier and one lighter. As a new angler I wish the kit included more instruction on how the rig is to be used and the theory behind it. After doing my own research on Ned rigs I was able to use the kit to its intended effect. It's great for light tackle and shallow weedy water and easy to cast. It did take a few tries to learn how to thread the swim baits on to the hook without bunching it up or canting it while avoiding the weed guard. Some instruction on the packaging would have been helpful to avoid unnecessary damage to the swim baits on the first attempts but nonetheless they're pretty robust and still serviceable after some bad first threading attempts and a couple bass and few missed bites later. At first I was very frustrated, put these to use while the bass were guarding their beds in late April and early May in the northeast. I could visibly see the bass hit any bluegill that came close to their bed but the bass refused to hit the dinger or the minnow soft plastics. This was very discouraging however I kept trying.A week or so later, my first landed bass was on the red dinger, which I casted in front of a bass that I could see in the water and I allowed to the dinger to stand up straight with the jig head against the bottom. Moving the rod tip slightly to keep the bass interested seemed to do the trick before the first bass hit the rig. The second bass I caught hit the rig on its descent to the bottom which I believe is the main way in which this rig is supposed to be used.Overall the rig does seem to work as intended but maybe just not during bedding season. Could be a skill issue on my part haha. Would recommend this kit to someone trying to get an easy rig to start bass fishing.
