I bought this because it doesn't have a switch. I didn't want the increased fire risk of a switch (added point of possible failure) and this does the job!

I love this dome! The only thing that I would change is adding a switch so that I don’t have to unplug and plug it back in every morning and night. On the plus side though, this does lower fire risks since it can’t start a fire if it’s not plugged it. (To my understanding anyways)

Great product for my chameleon, it makes light go all around the cage instead of just one beam of light like other products.

This was my first attempt at raising chickens. For use in my brooder, I purchased a 100W Ceramic Infrared heat emitter, and a Zilla Terrarium controller to use with a Reflector Dome for providing a source of regulated heat. The devices all worked well together. The chicks were drawn to it and would huddle underneath it for warmth. I had read that the infrared spectrum of heat more closely resembled sunlight and was better suited as a healthier heat source. There was no need for moving the dome up as the chicks got older to lower the temperature as the Zilla device was able to control the temperature within a few degrees. Made my job a lot simpler.

So far, I've had no problems with this dome, in and of itself. It's built well enough and it's operational. HOWEVER, I really do not appreciate that it was not mentioned anywhere in the product description/specs that this dome is not deep enough for a standard size bulb. Someone posted an Amazon question concerning depth and the top answer said YES, the dome would easily fit a standard bulb, but that person obviously misunderstood the question. Yes, the socket will fit a standard-size bulb and you'll have no problem if you hang the dome on a frame. However, if you wish to set the dome directly on your screen top, forget it. The bulb protrudes and you don't want the weight of the lamp resting on the fragile bulb.
