The heater does its job but there’s been many moments where I hear the breaker turning on and off and on and off, maybe 4-5 clicks, and then it trips the breaker. The good thing is I live in Texas so the water temp remains around 80, but not during the winter. I’ve woken up many times to find the tank shut off due to tripping the breaker. I don’t have much connected onto the wall, and it’s only the aquarium set up dedicated to that breaker, so 15amp should be sufficient. I’ve had this for one year but ended up ordering another heater rated for 500 watts rather than 800 watts. Even after calculating the watts coming out of the tank, it should be no where to even 80% of the breakers capacity. Rather replace it now instead of a major fail and burning my house down or something

I own a few of these, I've never had an issue up until the most recent I purchased from Amazon. I'm assuming it's a faulty sensor, will work for a day or so since purchase and then the ES1 code pops up, ill unplug it for a bit then plug it back in and work fine for a day or so and so on.

I have an 800 watt in my 125. Audible worked great for being out of water and did fairly well keeping up with the temperature I set.My community fish have a healthy range of temperate requirements. I set my tank for 77 and mainly used it in an upright pisition next to one if the filter intakes for the 1st several months until I could aquire items that would allow me better circulation for a more even heat distribution. At around 9 months I changed its orientation to a tilted horizontal one. This worked better but still my circulation needed some improvements to keep an even distribution. At 16 months, I rescaped my tank removing a dead central spot between my filters and added full accross spray bars instead of jets. This set up prompted me to center the heater horizontally tilted. After a few days I noticed tank temp went up drastically but thought it may have been my arrangment of hardscape and moss trapping heat. After some adjustments, I reset the heater and monitored it for a few weeks and all was working perfectly. The tank and heater is now about 18 months old and I almost had a catastrophic incident. My water was 91 degrees!!! Thank goodness my spidey senses triggered and I caught it before any losses. Please allow us more control for the audible alarm and max heat threshhold in a future design.Additional options for temp sensors would also be welcome. Thankfully I had another one of these heaters along with an inkbird ready to go. But dont be like me and try and stretch its lifespan past a year, replace it after 12 months or use another controller as additional safety measure.

I am currently using this heater on my 125 gallon indoor South American Cichlid aquarium. The heater itself is much larger than I expected, and seems to be constructed well. Set up was super simple; just attach the SUPER STRONG suction cups to the heater, and stick it in my tank. I have the heater placed centered on the back of my aquarium, about 3 inches above the substrate. The cord that runs from the controller to the heater itself has plenty of slack for anyone with a deeper tank. I have the heater set to 81 degrees Fahrenheit, and the thermometers on each end of the aquarium indicate a 24 hour low temperature of 80.6, and a high of 82.2 degrees, which is impressively consistent. There is an audible "click" sound whenever the heater turns on or off. I am very sensitive to sound, and my wife never notices the clicking noise, and it is not something that worries me, but it is worth mentioning in this review.Overall, I recommend this product for anyone who is in the market for a digital heater for their aquarium.
