What a disappointment: the subtitle 'learn something old' is certainly true of the appliqué section of this book as most of it came from an earlier Piece o' Cake book called The New Appliqué Sampler. Becky Goldsmith is of course free to reuse her own material but it would be courteous to warn prospective purchasers that some of the information isn't new. As for the quilt on the cover: this really isn't suitable for a beginner due to the sharp angles and tiny pieces; Goldsmith refers to the technique as EPP (English Paper Piecing) but it looks more like foundation piecing to me. Overall the book is attractively presented with lots of illustrations. Not impressed.
