I used the chuck to make a bowl. Happy with it. But it can’t be used to aggressively remove material as it tends to pop out of the jaws. Found it is better to initially use rotating centers to secure the wood at both ends then remove the bulk of the inner and outer material, maybe finishing/sanding the outside at the same time. Then transfer the item to the chuck to remove the remaining inside center cone and do final inside sanding. (Then reverse the jaws to finish the outside if needed.)PS; The numbers on the jaws stated to fade after one use, maybe due to sandpaper contact, so I used an electric engraving pencil to relabel the jaws. There are minimal instructions on how to remove and insert the jaws other than observing the number sequence. They should have a video or better detailed instructions. To remove the jaws simply counter rotate the front and back plates till the jaws fall out.To insert the jaws. On the chuck between the front and back clamping plates there is a spiral aligning ridge. Look between the jaw slots to see the spiral ridge. You need to align the start of the spiral ridge to the beginning of the first jaw slot. Insert the first jaw then counter rotate the clamping plates till the start of the spiral moves to the second slot then insert the second jaw etc.

I found that the jaws work but they are rather loose on the chuck. You have to also recognize that those jaws are sticking out from the face of the chuck so you have to be careful of not hitting them with your tools.Tightening of the chuck jaws is kind of a pain because you have to have both tools working at the same time; however, if you use the stop on the lathe it is a lot easier to do the tightening.

I am often hesitant to buy woodworking tools that are not brand name. This tool has made a believer of me in the no name knock off department. After my first use, I made a wooden box for Storage. It’s quite an asset. Works simply and easily. And it’s half the price of brand-name products.

The build quality on this is good, but it just vibrates loose and won’t hold wood. It needs a locking device to stop this.I’ve given 2 stars for the build quality but that’s not much use if it won’t hold the wood.
