This chuck is certainly usable. I will say however that none of the faces are ground very well. The surface finish, square off, and flatness are all pretty bad. You're going to want to square this up to your machine if you're using it for a precision application anyway but it will be tough to indicate straight because of this. I've had to dress the top down about .0060" to clean up flat and dress a couple of the sides to have a strip to indicate it straight. Overall very usable but definitely needs some work to be used in a precision setting

My package was left on the front steps by the Fed-Ex driver. When I saw it, it was damaged, it appeared it was dropped and the contents shifted. I carried it inside and inspected the box a bit closer. When I turned the box upside down I noticed the T-bolts were used to secure the chuck to the bottom of the crate. I also noticed there were no fasteners holding the bottom to the sides. As I photographed the box I observed the side was buckled and the bottom was shifted about 1/2 an inch at one end.I cut the one packing strap and lifted the top off the crate and found the chuck was indeed fastened to the bottom with the hold down hardware. On the end where the damage was on the box the hardware was free and finger tight. The other end was loose as well, buy still holding the chuck. The chuck was wrapped in a cellophane wrap. With the wrap removed the chuck had a wax-paper cover over it's work surface and it was well oiled. There was no obvious damage to the chuck. The screws that attach the fence to the chuck are loose and poor quality. I discovered there was not an Allen wrench for these screws. The hold down hardware also lacks in quality. The T-bolt appears stamped and the end is pushed out at the last thread. The holding clamp appears to be a rough forged piece that was painted heavily ant drilled for the bolt. The paint forms a ridge around the top sharp enough to cut, so be careful. The flat washer and nut appear to be good quality, the nut is loose on the nut but is serviceable.Impromptu test of the chuck, I put the table clamps on the vice. When I turned on the chuck and was disappointed when I was able to push the part and lift them right off the chuck. I did the a few times at different points on the surface with the same results. I cleaned all the parts and tried it without the oil and there was little change.I just purchased the chuck so I'll see what I can do with it. Good luck everybody and God Bless the United States and the World we live in.
