As many have said, this cordless heat gun does not have the power or heat output of a typical corded heat gun. If that's what you need, then you will find this tool lacking. I got this to use for fixing irrigation hoses, and bending pvc pipe. When plastic irrigation hoses are cold it's very difficult to push in or remove the barbed 1/4 inch fittings. This battery operated heat gun is perfect for this task, since it's a pain to haul around a basin of hot water to warm up the hoses, or trail a long electric cord around the yard for a corded heat gun. It also works well for bending small/medium sized pvc pipe.

Love Makita products but this heat gun not so much. Got it to shrink wire connectors for my lights on my truck and the heat gun doesn’t heat up very fast nor does it blow enough air out the heat gun. It does work but at least takes a minute yes 60 seconds longer than my plug in heat gun. I am keeping it because it does work and I hate working on something and have to get an extension cord and find a place to plug it in. Anything I do that I will be prewiring on the bench I will be using old reliable 110 volt heat gun. Anything outside I will use this Makita. If you want lots of air and quick heat this is not for you!

I bought both Makita's heat guns, cord and cordless. Yes, the corded one has more heat and more fan power, but the cordless one has enough heat and ok fan power and great mobility option. So, my opinion, if you need it for small jobs like wires or glue/paint removal or bend a pipe or two, it is ok. But if you have big jobs stick with the corded one. For me I'll keep it for great mobility and easy to grab for small and medium jobs, which all I needed for.

Very battery hungry, but when my heat went out in my van, this thing saved the day all winter! Prepare to recharge your batteries after 20- 30 minutes of run time.Seems very nicely made. Box is very heavy duty.
