Made of a plastic type which is of a bit better than mediocre quality, but also not heavy-duty high quality, I do believe that this rice mould will last quite a long time. Assuming, of course, that it is handled with reasonable care and is properly cleaned between uses. It is all in one piece, which I do not believe is meant to come apart. The hinge looks quite permanent to me, plus the other side has a closing latch. This rice mould is small in size, however, for having 3 mould cups within the same device, with each mould cup being the same size and oblong oval shape, much like an egg.On the underside of the handle is a snap-on style holder, meant for the tiny plastic rice paddle which is included. This holder is a snug fit for the paddle. So with normal use, the paddle should have no trouble staying in place. It's not too hard to remove the paddle for use, or to snap-in the paddle for storage. The paddle itself is simple, with some rasised grooves or bumps on the spoon area, presumeably to help with maneuvering the rice.So far, this mould and it's paddle work fine for this task. They are both reasonably easy to clean. Just be sure to get into those grooves and decorative inlays. The only potential issue I can see is because of how oblong shaped and deeply set one side of the mould cups are, it could at times be a bit tricky to get the moulded rice back out in one piece. Yes, I did experience this myself with it's use, but I must also state that I am not a chef, especially in regards to rice or sushi. So it's also possible I simple am not prepping it perfectly correctly. Therefore, I'm not minusing any stars for that.I will minus 1 star, however, for the slightly lesser than it seems to me that it should be level of heavy-dutiness quality of the plastic, and also for the cup sizes being a bit smaller than it seems to me they should be.4 out of 5 stars.

Such a fun way to serve rice to toddlers! Simply scoop the rice in 1 side, close lid and shake! The shaking can be done by the kiddos to get them involved! Nice size and easy to clean. Great to have in the kitchen

They were good my son uses them a lot as any problems with them at all as quick and easy to do good material came quick

This rice ball maker works as expected. It is easy to use. There is a handy spoon that snaps on the back of the handle. Use the spoon to load with rice and shake. It is as simple as that. I found it easy to clean as well.

Works and easy to clean.However, it is a little flimsy. Arrived with a broken clasp so I have to hold it shut by hand to use it. Still works.Fits the price but not the best rice ball gadget out there.
