These cables have been a great addition to my workflow. I was a bit skeptical about the short length, but it's actually been really convenient for keeping my desk organized and reducing clutter. The speed and reliability have been top-notch, with no issues transferring large files or using external devices. The fact that they can handle up to 240W of power is also a big plus, making them super versatile.

This flat cable is made of a 4-layer flexible PCB material. The outer layers are signal/power while the internal ones are used for GND. This is a good choice for the ultra fast 40Gbps signals the emarker says it can carry. Of course, there's no guarantee without certification, but this cable doesn't claim to be certified.Like 40Gbps cables should, it includes the Thunderbolt identifier and should work with Thunderbolt 3/4 devices. It will also function properly as a video cable (carries DisplayPort Alt Mode data).Cable Vbus+GND resistance is measured to be about 80mΩ - plenty of margin left from the 150mΩ specification limit for 5A (240W) cables!

"Thunder, thunder, Thunderbolt, four."Rerwelin’s 5.2-inch Thunderbolt 4 Cables are USB4 cables that can charge devices at up to 240W. They’re perfect for charging devices on the go with power banks when you don’t want to deal with long cables. They also work well for connecting external SSDs to the front and side ports on desktops and laptops. The cables have eMarker chips that show they can support up to 240W of PD charging, and I was able to get the cable to charge a 140W-capable device at about 123W. The eMarker chips also indicate that the cables support USB4 Gen 3, which I take to mean Gen 3x2 support because of the 40 Gbps transfer speed. The cables are well-made and sturdy. They’re short and flat, and they won’t bend too far. Braided versions of these types of cables are usually a bit more flexible.I couldn’t find any Thunderbolt certifications for these cables, but I take it to mean they’re USB4 cables that support the Thunderbolt 4 protocol. An external enclosure with an NVMe SSD inside reached about 2300 MBps transfer speeds.

Unfortunately, due to these cables length and stiffness, I was unable to test them with my USB cable tester, and I currently have only one 40Gbps port and drive, which I did not want to mess with (my Crucial X10 Pro backup drive). So, will have to take word of manufacturer on speed. I was unable to make use of the cables in the application I had gotten them for due to their stiffness. They are relatively wide as cables go these days, and cannot be bent to stay in a position, they spring back to being straight. I think they would be great for exactly the right application, but that basically means your USB device can be placed 3" from the computer, with its port basically straight out from the computer port.
