I bought this adapter to use with a wall mounted tablet (Fire HD 10) that I use for my Home Assistant dashboard. It's bad to keep tablet batteries at 100% all the time as they can start swelling up, which is a fire hazard. I use this adapter to start charging when the tablet's battery is below 20%, and stop charging when it's above 70% (battery percentage is reported to Home Assistant via the Home Assistant Android app). It works well!. I could have used a regular smart outlet for this, but they usually produce a loud clicking noise when turning on or off due to the type of relays they use. On the other hand, this USB adapter is silent. There's a custom integration called "SonoffLAN" that easily integrates this device into Home Assistant. You do still need to use the eWeLink app for initial setup, but after it's all set up you never need to touch that app again and can instead control it via Home Assistant. The eWeLink app is a bit fiddly, but once you pair it it works fine. I plugged in the adapter then immediately scanned the QR code included in the box, and it worked. Note that the adapter is only in pairing mode for 2-3 minutes so you should only plug it in once you're ready to set it up.
