I have an iPhone 12 and it has a lightning plug. The plug on the drive is usb c, so I must use a converter and the drive does not recognize that it’s plugged in, so it doesn’t function correctly.

This SSD is working quite well for me; I don't need this particular smart-phone magnetic form factor, but in using it for external storage for a laptop it works fine. I ran benchmarks with my Linux system and this unit functioned at the highest speeds my system would allow. I wish my other older external drives used USB-C connectivity like this one.

Build qualityThe drive has a nice looking case and the drive feels solid. The included cables are good quality as well. The magnetic attachment is good and overall it feels like a high end product.UseThis device is great for use when we are at an long childrens event and are doing a lot of recording. We can record directly to the drive without taking up space on the phone, then later transfer the video off to encode.FastTransfers are blazing fast about 1GB[yte]/sec (~10Gb[it]ps) on my USB3.1 port but it can go faster with USB4 or thunderbolt. At the 1Gbps -- everything is so fast that I'm not really waiting on the transfers anymore at all.Why I like this.Prior to using this, tranfering files off my phone was a hassle as my phone often became unresponsive when trying to copy to a PC, forcing me to have to connect and reconnect the phone over and over again to get everything off and worse I would often end up with corrupted videos or partially copied videos. Now that I have been using this drive, it's a world of difference -- Transfers are fast easy and painless. No more unlocking my phone and waiting a long time to copy. In addition I can view the files directly on the drive with no need to copy first -- I know that's obvious but its worth pointing out that you can use this drive directly.Final thoughtsThis is a great drive for ultra fast use / transfer/ storage on/to/from a PC or Phone. I highly recommend it!

I ran it through Crystal Disk Mark. The photo shows two results: the top is the Real-World setting, and the bottom is the Peak-Performance setting. Sequential R/W is getting close to 1 GB/s, which is pretty good. My MB is ASUS ROG Strix B550-F, and I have the SSD connected to a USBC 3.2 port on the motherboard. I love the form factor and the magnet. Snaps onto my iPhone's MagSafe and clamps onto my PC's side. They provide a decent quality short USBC cable about 6" long and a stick-on steel ring, so you can still use the magnetic attachment even if you have a non-magsafe case.

It's unbelievable how the phone makers get away with overcharging for storage. They deliberately just provide bare minimum to run a phone and overcharge for each level of storage upgrade. Getting 1 TB of storage upgrade costs hundreds of dollars. It's unreal. To fill in the gap, this device is awesome. It's small and has a magsafe that can simply attach itself to the back of my iPhone. There is no locking mechanism needed because it uses magnet as the attachment property. It works with iPhone 15 and above. The speed of this external drive is fast, very fast. This is marketed to take a video and save directly to this SSD.This device is small and can easily be pocketed. I can take it out when I need it and put it back it back in when I am done with it.An improvement that can implemented in the future edition is I wish the cable is built-in into the device. That way the cable is not separated. For now, i have to carry the cable and device separately.
