Does its intended purpose. Rarely are we home at dusk to turn the outside lights on. This switch has been a great addition to the house. We can manually override the timer by simply clicking the on/off button without messing with the programming.Huge difference. Very happy with the purchase!

I ordered this to replace a non-functioning similar product. This is very easy to install. It was easy to program pretty logical. It was great but. I would recommend it.

First off, the box of the timer I received indicates it is a HONEYWELL brand #40989 in-wall push-button countdown timer, and the device looks exactly like the listing photos. Not mentioned in the listing is the unexpected 'feature' that, after a power outage and power returns, the timer resets to ON forever until you discover it's on and reset it. So hopefully whatever you run with this timer, you're okay with it being ON FOREVER after a power outage until you manually reset it. For example, if you have a vacation home or other remote location, a power outage will reset the timer to ON FOREVER until you return and discover that the timer needs to be reset. Or if you want to time a potable hot water circulation pump to avoid wasting water, a power outage will cause it to circulate hot water forever until you discover and reset it. As a safety feature, this timer should either reset itself to off after power loss, or better yet, return to the previous setting. Resetting itself to ON is a potentially fatal flaw IMHO. The listing should clarify the exact operation but it does not. Otherwise the timer looks good a functions well.

Very inexpensive. Programming is very simple and covers everything. The issue is the cover. Back lighting is bright blue. Which does help identify the problem. The cover is so thin, and flimsy, any slight touching of cover triggers programming buttons underneath. So, if you think you set the light to come on at a certain time, because you pressed the button, be careful, as closing the thin cover will tap another button all together.

This switch is everything I was looking for in a programmable switch for my outside lights.I'd been looking for a device that would have sunrise/sunset times built in, I knew many of them were complicated to program. Reading the description here on Amazon, and since the price was reasonable, I thought I'd try it.Installation was as easy as installing any other light switch in a wall. The only difference between this and a standard light switch is you need to make sure your box contains a NEUTRAL wire, in addition to the two usual LOAD and HOT wires. My box had the NEUTRAL wire already in a bundle. This switch comes with a small white jumper wire to attach the switch to the bundle. It's really easy to attach those three wires to the switch. Just push the wires into their designated hole on the switch and tighten. You do NOT need to wrap the wire around a screw as in most switches. I found this much easier and safer than with that method.I was happy to see that I was correct. Programming IS much easier than any other switch of its type. Just put in the day, date, select automatic daylight savings time adjustment, and finally choose from three geographic locations. That's it!There's a button for "Sunset ON, Midnight OFF" which is exactly what I wanted. I pushed it and I was finished!A couple of things I found slightly negative. Because you do not program in your exact latitude and longitude locations, what the switch thinks is your sunset time may be off by several minutes. That's really no problem because you can program any time from an hour later to an hour earlier than the sunset time the switch selects. From that point the switch would be correct when turning on your light. Also, as a few others have said, if you wish to manually turn on or off your light by just pushing in the switch, there isn't any indication whether you've just turned your lights on or off, without opening the door on the switch each time to check. That wasn't a problem for me because the switch is right by my door and I can just look out the window to see if the lights are on or off. Both small negatives. The switch is working beautifully and especially at this very reasonable price I'm totally satisfied with my purchase.
