We had an earlier version of this dock, which stopped working after about 12 months (power supply failed?). Orico kindly arranged a refund, and we bought this current Orico model - Model # 5828C3.Now, after just one month of use, a 2 sec power interruption to our neighbourhood has apparently 'killed' the docks ability to read our drives. The dock still has power, and the pretty RGB, but otherwise doesn't work any more.We have another drive dock, from another manufacturer, which is many years old but continues to work flawlessly, allowing us to confirm there is nothing wrong with the drives.Returning the dock as defective, for a refund, and will likely buy from another brand.

I brought this to replace my Unitek USB 3.0 to SATA III Hard Drive Adapter with something more permanent on my desk. I brought other Orica devices and had been happy with them so I was hopeful that this dock would be at least as fast as the Unitek adaptor (I was hoping for slightly faster) but alas it was about 15% slower with the same Seagate Ironwolf NAS drive attached. This made the dock unsuitable for my needs and I had to return it.

Funciona de maravilla, se puede realizar transferencia de uno a otra a mayor velocidad.

I have two of the single versions, and I wanted to clone other drives for a secondary backup. This thing works GREAT! While there is a button to press to clone your drive, I have NOT used this feature. Instead, I use a program that is free called FreeFileSync that I can have it copy ONLY the changes from one drive to another. When I had a blank drive, I also used this to mirror both drives as I could watch the progress. Otherwise, i would have to watch the lights to see when complete, and never really know on my 18TB drive if it was truly complete or had many hours left. Get this and you will not be disappointed.

I purchased this dock (model 5828C3) for 2 features: "Intelligent Auto Sleep" Mode and USB 3.2 Gen 2. There is no "Clone" feature in this model. This is the only 2 bay dock I could find on Amazon that specifically had these 2 features.Orico's promotional information states that:"【Intelligent Sleep Mode】Automatic enters sleep mode without operation after 10 minutes, which greatly helps save energy and prolong the life of the dock station. LED indicator let you know the working status and clone progress easily. Anti-slip silicone foot pads, provide shockproof & vibration-resistant functions. "There is nothing on the dock itself that indicates when the device has entered sleep mode - no LEDs that blink or turn color to notify that the device is in sleep mode. You simply have to take it on faith. Additionally, you would think that if the device is in sleep mode, the HDDs are also in sleep mode (spun down - reducing wear and tear on the HDDs). However, placing my hand gently on each HDD I can feel an ever so slight vibration indicating to me the drives are still spinning and not asleep. (WD Red and WD Black 4TB). The drives are also warm to the touch after hours of non-use indicating they are not really OFF (asleep).For me this is a big deal and warrants a possible return of the product for possible misleading advertising. It's why I paid the price when less expensive docks were available with just USB3.2.I hope Orico reads this and responds with an acceptable clarification before I decide whether to return their product.Feb. 09, 2024 Addendum: not more than an hour after I wrote the above, a backup I was trying to make with this dock failed. The file transfer program "grsync" (a Linux file transfer/synchronization utility) indicated several file errors. But, in addition to the errors, the entire computer was frozen: no mouse or keyboard input was possible. A cold shutdown was the only way to reboot the computer. This is never a good thing to do. Immediately after restarting and logging in I lost all mouse and keyboard input. This never happened before. I performed another cold shutdown. I also disconnected the Orico dock from the USB 3.2 Gen 2 port of the computer. I rebooted and the computer behaved normally with full mouse and keyboard function. I then performed another orderly shutdown, reconnected the Orico dock to the computer and restarted to see if the abnormal behavior reoccurred - it did! My conclusion was the dock had a serious problem and needed to be returned for a full refund.Orico has offered a full refund and the product will be returned.

This device works great for getting extra life out of those old internal hard drives. Simply pop the drive in the docking station and you are ready to use the drive given its hot swappable capability. Because it is USB 3.2 Gen 2, it does speedy data transfer if your PC supports that standard. It also came with adapters attached to the cable so you can attach it to multiple USB connector formats. It works as advertised and was a value for the cost.
