Reel backlashes a ton constantly reversals gear doesn’t lock properly if you want this reel you get junk and I fish a lot this reel is horrible compared to my Okuma avet and big shimano reels For surf and big game performance one star smoothness don’t even exist size is good distance is terrible

I like that this reel is easy to add line to (it comes as an empty lineless reel). I found it easy to use when fishing from both a boat/raft and from the shoreline. I don't like that there isn't a place to secure the line to so it won't unspool itself while traveling unless you tie it to an eyelet of your fishing rod.

I'm really reluctant to write a negative review of this reel (3000L) but I was disappointed as soon as I took it out of the box. It is the right size and specs for my application. But a couple cranks of the handle felt rough; like grinding coffee (I guess - never ground coffee). The gearing did not mesh smoothly. I loosened and tightened the spool axis but this didn't make much difference. At this point my confidence level was pretty low so I made the decision to put it back in the box and return. As for my reluctance: I surf fish in San Diego county and south. My "go to" reels are Sougayilang DL500 - DL3000 spinning reels and these have been the mainstay of my surf arsenal. These, also "low budget" reals have served me well for several seasons and I've tendered some reviews to that regard. The bait caster was not for surf, but rather in-shore boat fishing. Hopefully this was a one-off QC slip through - looks nice.
